Julie A. Callsen

Julie A. Callsen is a Partner in the Cleveland office of Tucker Ellis & West LLP. She focuses her practice on defending manufacturers of pharmaceuticals and medical products as well as defending hospitals, physicians, nurses and other health care providers in medical negligence actions.  She is also experienced at working with pharmaceutical companies, health care systems, and physicians on a variety of corporate, regulatory, and administrative matters. Julie has given presentations to medical and physicians groups on the legal structure of the medical practice and various medical liability topics.

Julie started her career as a registered nurse in 1983, first as a staff nurse and then a nurse manager. She has worked in academic and governmental settings and is keenly interested in the health care delivery system, reform efforts, and the legal issues imparted. She considers her current practice a continuation of her role as a health care provider—just no longer in scrubs!

While in law school Julie clerked for the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office in its Health Department and assisted with the drafting of legislation. She is admitted to practice in Ohio state and federal courts. She serves on the Boards of several non-profit organizations as legal liaison and, in her spare time, attempts to stay involved with the ever-changing health care delivery issues.
