Tucker Ellis has named several new nationwide co-chairs to existing practice areas within the firm effective January 1, 2025.

Joining Tom Simmons as co-chair of the firm’s business litigation practice is partner Chelsea Mikula. Chelsea defends clients nationwide in all aspects of commercial litigation. She often is brought onto large trial teams to assist with witness preparation and overall trial strategy. Chelsea in ranked in Chambers USA in the area of Litigation: General Commercial (Ohio).

As Laura Hong steps down as longtime chair of the Tucker Ellis mass tort & product liability practice, new co-chairs are partners Brian Huelsmann and Cliff Mendelsohn. Laura will continue her robust litigation practice in the group.

A veteran trial lawyer, Brian Huelsmann is known for his “on-the-ground” representation in some of the most active toxic and mass tort jurisdictions in the United States. As national counsel for defendants in asbestos, benzene, and silica litigation, he has tried four asbestos trials to verdict, with two other asbestos trials settling before closing arguments, and he has obtained favorable jury verdicts on behalf of clients in multimillion-dollar matters. He is the Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s St. Louis office.

As national counsel for motor vehicle accident litigation and premises liability litigation for three global companies, Cliff Mendelsohn provides clients with consistency, efficiency, and cost savings. In these roles, he defends a wide range of fatality, catastrophic injury, and personal injury claims in state and federal courts throughout the country. Cliff has first-chair experience at trial, arbitrations, and mediations, including six trials to verdict as first chair.

“Our firm has enjoyed significant recent growth in both labor and employment and business litigation,” said Joe Morford. “By adding Bisi and Chelsea as co-chairs of these practices, we’ll be positioned for further growth while ensuring that we continue to provide the great client service we’re known for both now and in the future.”

“Laura has been exceptional in leading our cornerstone mass tort and product liability practice, and we’re grateful for her leadership over the years,” Joe continued. “We know the practice will be in excellent hands as it transitions to new co-chairs Brian and Cliff.”
