Tucker Ellis Volunteers Conclude May Sessions of CMBA 3Rs Program

June 4, 2026

Tucker Ellis LLP recently completed participation in the May 2026 sessions of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s (CMBA) 3Rs program at Cleveland Early College High School at John Hay. Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the 3Rs—which stands for “Rights, Responsibilities, and Realities”—places attorneys in Cleveland and East Cleveland City Schools, where they teach a law-based curriculum and provide career counseling to high school students.

The Tucker Ellis team was led by partner John Favret, with participation from associates Bradley Dennis, Cate Mandry, and Ben Crawford, and was also attended by retired partner Carter Strang.

Over the course of the May sessions, the Tucker Ellis volunteers taught a multi-lesson curriculum covering foundational constitutional law topics through interactive case studies, mock trials, myth-versus-fact exercises, and review games. The lessons covered the following subjects:

  • The Judicial Branch and Rule of Law
  • The Fourth Amendment: Search and Seizure
  • The First Amendment: Freedom of Speech, Press, and Religion
  • The First Amendment: Protest, Assembly, and Police Encounters

A 20-Year Legacy of Impact

Since its founding in 2006, the 3Rs program has engaged over 3,000 volunteers and reached more than 40,000 students throughout Greater Cleveland. All volunteers receive training and lesson materials before teaching their first class, and the program is designed to improve students’ understanding of the Constitution and the rule of law, promote passing of civics content required for graduation, provide career counseling, and increase minority diversity in legal careers in the region.

Tucker Ellis is proud to support this important initiative and to invest in the civic education of Cleveland’s next generation. For more information about the 3Rs program or to volunteer, visit the CMBA’s website.
