Moriarty, Petruzzi, and Vance Speak at West Virginia United Health System

January 30, 2014

On January 9, Matt Moriarty, Tony Petruzzi, and Vicky Vance addressed in-house counsel, risk managers, and patient advocates of the West Virginia United Health System. In their presentation, “What Tangled Webs We Lawyers Weave: Legal and Ethical Issues in the Medical Corporate Tree,” Matt focused on “Ethical and Agency Issues in the Corporate Family.” Tony spoke on the topic of “Corporate Criminal Liability, Internal Investigations & the Upjohn Warning,” and VIcky rounded out the presentation with a talk on the “Transition to Transparency: Disclosure, Apologies and Peer Review.” The System, which includes a large teaching hospital, well-established community and local hospitals, and a network of physicians and allied providers, is the largest healthcare system based in West Virginia.
