Five Tucker Ellis Attorneys Speak at 2022 OACTA Annual Meeting

November 11, 2022

Five Tucker Ellis attorneys participated in sessions of the 2022 Annual Meeting of the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys (OACTA), held November 10 and 11 in Cleveland.

Outgoing OACTA president Ben Sassé interviewed Justice Michael P. Donnelly of the Supreme Court of Ohio, providing insight into subjects of interest to defense lawyers, including strategies and key considerations for getting into – or staying out of – the Ohio Supreme Court.

Elisa Arko – OACTA Annual Meeting Chair – moderated a panel of trial court judges from the Northern District of Ohio and the Summit County and Cuyahoga County Courts of Common Pleas. In “Back to the Courtroom – What We Can Expect from Courts Moving Forward,” the judges focused on the future of trials and hearings post-pandemic.

Karl Bekeny, Kevin Young, and Ethan Weber presented “Class Actions in Insurance.” Karl, Kevin, and Ethan discussed current trends and case law developments affecting insurance-related class actions. The presentation focused on strategies for defending such cases, including how to achieve success at class certification, through dispositive motions, and during discovery.
