On August 25, John Slagter was elected chair of the Akron Zoo board. John has served as a board member of the Akron Zoo since 2013, and he previously served as vice chair and chair of the Akron Zoo Foundation. The Akron Zoo – home to more than 2,000 animals – welcomes more than 400,000 visitors per year and is actively committed to supporting the conservation of wildlife and endangered animals.
