Without the Rule of Law, Democracy Dies
May 28, 2025 - Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Journal
By Joseph Morford
The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Journal, in its May/June 2025 edition, The CMBA Defends the Rule of Law, asked “lawyers, judges, community leaders, politicians from both parties, journalists, and academics to help tell the story of the Rule of Law.” Joe Morford joined more than 35 contributors in providing short essays on this topic.
“The Rule of Law is a fundamental principle of a constitutional democracy,” Joe wrote. “It provides a legitimate route for disputes to be settled. It’s been said that the Rule of Law alone is not sufficient to make a country democratic, but a country that does not observe the Rule of Law cannot be a healthy democracy.”
