Su-Lyn Combs is a trial attorney with more than 25 years of litigation experience in both federal and state courts.

Su-Lyn’s practice primarily involves the defense of pharmaceutical and medical device companies in mass tort or single-plaintiff product liability actions. She has significant experience representing manufacturers in multidistrict and coordinated state litigation involving prescription drugs and medical devices. Su-Lyn has served as national coordinating counsel, on national counsel teams and as local counsel. She has also served as lead and liaison counsel in numerous California Coordinated Proceedings.

Su-Lyn has extensive experience in all phases of pretrial litigation on the national and local level, including written discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, defending and preparing company witnesses, and defense expert development. She has drafted and argued pretrial motions, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions and Daubert motions.

Su-Lyn also has experience in defending complex construction defect, personal injury, general product liability, and insurance defense matters.

  • Appointed as Liaison Counsel in a California coordinated proceeding representing a pharmaceutical company in claims that diabetes medication increased risk of bladder cancer
  • Developed case-specific defenses in 50+ individual plaintiff cases involving recalled transdermal opioid
  • Represented a pharmaceutical company in a California coordinated proceeding involving a birth control patch
  • Member of the trial team that represented a pharmaceutical company in jury trial arising out of alleged theft of trade secrets from a clinical trial database
  • Represented a pharmaceutical company in a class action lawsuit involving a RICO claim and various consumer protection claims under California, New Jersey, Florida, and Massachusetts law to recover millions spent on diabetes medication prescriptions
  • Represented a medical device company in a case alleging that a defect in surgical trocar used during cholecystectomy of pregnant woman caused premature birth
  • Member of national defense team for mass tort litigation involving claims that a cosmetic product causes ovarian cancer
