On December 13, Tucker Ellis obtained a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of a local physicians’ group in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. The two-and-a-half-week trial involved novel vicarious liability theories stemming from alleged medical malpractice in connection with postpartum preeclampsia resulting in the decedent plaintiff’s hemorrhagic stroke. Defense counsel secured the verdict after plaintiff’s counsel requested $16.9 million in damages during closing argument.
