Ms. Barnes is a registered patent attorney focusing on intellectual property matters, including the domestic and international prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. She works with national brands to protect their products, including issues related to counterfeiting, and routinely provides intellectual property advice for corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, license agreements, intellectual property policies, and joint development agreements. As a result of her involvement in the start-up community, she works with independent entrepreneurs and corporate clients seeking alternative revenue streams by shepherding new innovations from conception to commercialization. Ms. Barnes received her law degree with distinction from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law. She received her B.S.M.E. from The University of Akron.

Mr. Craig focuses on helping clients protect and generate revenue from their intellectual property. He has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications for large and small clients in the areas of computer arts, electrical arts, mechanical arts, medical devices, and life sciences. He works closely with clients to provide the advice they need to optimize their IP portfolios both domestically and internationally. His patent preparation and prosecution experience extends to industries including computer software, hardware, and architecture; telecommunications; online systems, services, and gaming; semiconductor and signal processing; circuitry; cybersecurity; medical devices; bioinformatics; medical and security imaging; and mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Mr. Craig received his law degree cum laude from The University of Akron School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from Hiram College.

“Heather and Michael are top-flight IP lawyers who will further add to the capabilities and strength of our expanding department,” said Intellectual Property Department Chair Jay Campbell. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome them to Tucker Ellis.”

“Attracting talented lawyers like Heather and Michael illustrates our firm’s continuing dedication to providing everyone we encounter with a better experience than they can get from any other law firm,” said Managing Partner Joe Morford. “Their expertise will deepen both our practice and our firm and help deliver exceptional service to our clients.”
