Governor Kasich Signs OH H.B. 7 to Expand Apology Statute and Provider Immunities

December 2018

Earlier this month, Tucker Ellis alerted our clients about H.B. 7, a tort reform measure being considered by the Ohio General Assembly with the potential to become law before year’s end. That potential is now a reality. On December 6, 2018, the House and Senate approved H.B. 7, and Governor Kasich signed the bill into law on December 19. The law, which addresses topics ranging from the Apology Statute to qualified immunity for certain medical providers, will become effective in late March 2019.
