On June 20, Oil Daily quoted Chris Hewitt in “Icahn Wrests Control of SandRidge Energy in Proxy Contest.” The article centers around activist investor Carl Icahn’s winning a majority of seats on SandRidge’s board of directors.

Chris commented that shareholders are willing to put activist investors on the boards of directors of public companies.

“They are more accepting of activists running proxy contests,” he said. “They don’t view them as pirates anymore. Institutions are voting for [dissidents]. That’s why you don’t see many of them go all the way like this. The writing is usually on the wall.”
