On February 25, Vicky Vance presented a medical risk management webinar, “Facing a Medical Malpractice Allegation: Preparation and Risk Reduction.”

Hosted by national medical liability insurer Coverys, the webinar was available to a nationwide audience of Coverys-insured physicians and nurses, as well as the Coverys claims staff. The presentation provided an overview of medical litigation, likening the process to a long journey that requires preparation, attention to detail, diligence, and patience with the ebbs and flows of the litigation process. Vicky highlighted potential areas of clinical risk; identified successful defense strategies; and discussed the importance of risk management strategies that medical practitioners can follow to lessen the risk of litigation.

Following the webinar, participants were able to explore leading allegations within the medical professional liability (MPL) landscape; outline the usual progression of an MPL allegation; and describe methods to increase defensibility, thereby reducing liability risks.
