On August 25, Manju Gupta and Tod Northman provided a legal update on the evolution of the commercial use of drone technology at “Delivering Change: Cleveland’s New Era of Drone Delivery Under the FAA’s Part 108 Rule,” an event hosted by The Aerozone. Manju discussed Cleveland Clinic’s new prescription medication drone delivery program (via Zipline), and Tod discussed the FAA’s proposed new Beyond the Visual Line of Sight rules. If adopted, the proposed rules would afford drone operators the opportunity to deploy significantly more and significantly larger drones (up to 24 times larger) outside of the visual line of sight of the operator.
