Joe Koncelik Explores Mapping PFAS in ELI/TRC Webinar

March 10, 2022

On March 10, Joe Koncelik spoke at “Mapping PFAS: Tracing Legal and Policy Issues & Trends,” a webinar co-sponsored by the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and TRC Companies. Expert panelists explored how the legal community, private sector, states, communities, and the federal government are identifying and remediating potential per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination. The panelists provided an overview of private sector technologies designed to identify PFAS contamination, as well as practical considerations on the impact of PFAS on transactional work, including environmental due diligence; highlighted recent state actions such as bans on particular uses of PFAS (firefighting foam, food packaging) and elevated the public’s understanding of the extent of the PFAS contamination problem; reviewed the environmental justice implications of PFAS contamination; and highlighted the tools and resources available to communities.
