Joe Koncelik Speaks to WKSU on Obama’s Climate Change Goals

September 4, 2015

Joe Koncelik spoke to WKSU in an interview airing September 3 regarding President Obama’s sweeping new environmental regulations, the massive challenges the states face in meeting the requirements, and the mounting lawsuits. Joe commented on the legal basis for the rules and the challenges:

“The legal authority the EPA is relying upon is in one section of the Clean Air Act, and the huge debate is over whether that specific section of the Clean Air Act allows the EPA to only establish technology and control requirements for a plant – like within the fence line – or does it give much broader authority which EPA argues under the Clean Power Plan to set wide sweeping standards for overall performance of utilities in all the states, which is why various states have sued.”
