Tod Northman Co-Presents myLawCLE Program on Piercing the Corporate Veil After Mortimer v. McCool

March 17, 2026

On March 12, Tod Northman co-presented a myLawCLE program, “Piercing the Corporate Veil After Mortimer v. McCool: Single Business Enterprise, Alter Ego Liability, and Practical Risk Management.” Tod and co-presenter Edward Kang of Kang Haggerty LLC analyzed when and how courts pierce the corporate veil; examined alter ego and enterprise liability doctrines, including horizontal and vertical piercing and how courts have historically applied them; and explained how the Pennsylvania case Mortimer v. McCool has influenced affiliated-entity liability. Tod reviewed recent federal and state decisions – highlighting how different jurisdictions approach these claims – and explained the legal factors courts focus on, including control, capitalization, commingling, and equitable considerations.
