Green Initiatives

Tucker Ellis & West was founded with a core value of commitment to our relationships, and that includes its relationship with the environment. We believe it is vital that all organizations be environmentally responsible, and we are doing all we can to practice what we preach.  Our firm's green initiatives were mentioned in a recent article in Crain's Cleveland Business.

Tucker Ellis & West has been at the forefront of this effort. It is the first law firm in Cleveland to receive the Cleveland Bar Association’s Green Certification, which certification requires documentation of responsible paper use (use of recycled paper, double sided copying, etc.), a recycling program for paper, plastic, glass, metal and e-waste, a 10% reduction of energy usage, and creation of a firm Green Committee to foster environmentally responsible practices. A Tucker Ellis & West partner, Carter Strang, originated the CMBA Green program and serves as Chair of its Green Initiative Committee.

Tucker Ellis & West’s Green Committee is composed of a cross-section of all offices and job classifications. In addition to working to meet the CMBA’s Green Certification requirements, it conducted an Earth Day celebration, which included presentations by speakers on environmental issues, a raffle of Green items, distribution of Tucker Ellis & West LLP “Green Logo” reusable grocery bags to everyone in the firm, the premier of a video by and with Tucker Ellis & West LLP employees on the importance of recycling, and a wine/cheese reception featuring organic and locally grown foods. Additional events/activities are planned for the year (trees on Arbor Day, etc.).

Tucker Ellis & West was the first and only law firm to be a participating partner in the Cleveland Bike to Work Day (2009), which included treats for the many that rode to work, and fundraising activities for the Tucker Ellis & West Green Committee and the Tucker Ellis & West “Wheelers” Bicycle Club’s MS 150 (miles) “Peddle to the Point” quest.
