Steve Ellis Co-Presents Zoom Class on Professionalism to Students at CWRU School of Law

April 16, 2020

On April 8, Steve Ellis co-presented a class on professionalism with former Thompson Hine Managing Partner David Hooker. The high-energy presentation was remotely broadcast via Zoom to Professor Juliet Kostritsky’s business law class at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Law. Professor Kostritsky is the Everett D. & Eugenia S. McCurdy Professor of Contract Law and Director of the Center for Business Law at CWRU School of Law.

Asked about the content of the class, Steve replied, “It turns out that ‘professionalism’ is a tough concept to articulate. David and I settled on enthusiasm, empathy, and trying to do more than simply answering whatever the question may be. A demonstration that you understand and genuinely care about a client’s circumstance is what most people want from a professional. Everybody is sort of the same in that they are looking for engagement; to be viewed as an individual versus simply a problem to be solved.”
