Traci Shafroth is a trial and appellate lawyer with over a decade of experience in product liability and toxic tort cases, with an emphasis on defending pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in personal injury litigation, defending manufacturers in product liability litigation, and representing clients in appellate matters, including direct appeals, writs, and as amici curiae.

Traci has served on national and local counsel teams defending manufacturers of prescription medications and medical devices in personal injury and wrongful death actions in jurisdictions across the country.

Traci also serves as lead appellate counsel in the California courts, providing trial support, handling posttrial motion practice, drafting appellate briefs, and arguing in the appellate courts in cases involving a variety of consumer and medical products.

A former certified public accountant, Traci started her career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where she spent seven years as an auditor and business consultant. Traci worked in Andersen’s offices in the Bay Area and Sydney, Australia, serving both publicly traded and privately held clients in diverse industries including finance, hospitality, entertainment, and municipal government. With more than a decade of experience serving clients in a variety of business-advisory roles, Traci brings to her litigation matters a distinctive perspective that greatly enhances her ability to find creative solutions for clients.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Traci settled in the San Francisco Bay Area after spending several years on both coasts. She enjoys a good book, cooking dinner with her youngest son, snowboarding with her eldest, and beating her in-laws at Scrabble.

  • Served as a member of the trial team that won a complete defense verdict for an elevator company in a personal injury jury trial in which the jury awarded over $5 million in damages against other defendants; lead appellate counsel in a related appeal
  • Represents California and national medical associations protecting the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act as amici curiae
  • Served as a member of the trial team that won a defense verdict in a Philadelphia jury trial defending a manufacturer of a prescription anticoagulant
  • Obtained voluntary dismissal of all claims against a medical device manufacturer in a federal personal injury action alleging defects in a hip implant
  • Obtained stipulated dismissal of all claims against generic drug manufacturers in a product liability coordinated proceeding
  • Served as a member of the trial team defending a manufacturer of prescription diabetes medication in federal and state courts throughout the country
  • Served as a member of the trial team defending a foreign pharmaceutical company in a California Coordinated Proceeding involving more than 900 cases alleging cancer resulting from the use of a diabetes medication
  • Served as a member of the trial team defending a pharmaceutical company in product liability actions alleging cancer, infectious disease, and neurological injuries resulting from medication for autoimmune diseases at the trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts around the country
