overview

Robert Castillo is a member of the firm's Mass Tort & Product Liability Group.

In addition to his focus on product liability, Rob has experience in antitrust and class action litigation and has defended medical institutions, doctors, and nurses in medical malpractice cases. His litigation experience includes case work-up and strategy, research, evidence review, preparing expert witnesses, conducting depositions, and drafting motions and memoranda. He has also presented numerous oral arguments and negotiated favorable settlements for clients.

After law school, Rob served for three years as an assistant district attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney's Office, where he was assigned to the Street Narcotics & Gang Bureau. There, he investigated and prosecuted close to 1,000 cases - including violent felonies - and participated in more than a dozen trials, approximately 30 hearings, and 50 grand jury presentations.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Rob moved to New York to attend Hofstra University School of Law. As a research assistant, he contributed to the establishment of an alternative adjudication program for juveniles, drafted a statute to enact and regulate New York youth courts, helped to begin the first youth court in Nassau County, and mentored youth court volunteers to prepare for and litigate cases.

A big sports fan, Rob plays and follows basketball and baseball, and he enjoys watching soccer and football games.
