Paul Janowicz is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on commercial litigation and risk management, including insurance coverage litigation and analysis, data security and privacy, and commercial contract disputes.

A member of the Tucker Ellis Privacy & Data Security Group and the firm’s own risk management team, Paul also has experience counseling clients following data security breaches, preparing incident response plans, and analyzing security risk factors.

Whatever the task, Paul emphasizes practical problem-solving strategies while vigilantly representing clients in an effort to achieve their goals.

A Cleveland native, Paul enjoys trying to convince his wife that there is in fact a rivalry between the Browns and her hometown Steelers. In their spare time, they enjoy touring the Cleveland Metroparks, visiting family and friends, and spending time with their two animal rescues, Molly and Oliver. Paul also recently emerged from retirement to continue his recreational soccer career.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a specialty insurance carrier against a breach of contract claim in litigation involving real estate investments, which resulted in summary judgment in the trial court and affirmation of decision by state Supreme Court
  • Counseled numerous clients regarding their legal obligations following actual or suspected data security breaches
  • Represented a manufacturer in a breach of contract action that resulted in a unanimous jury decision and a full damages award after a week-long trial
  • Counseled numerous insurance carriers with respect to coverage obligations for claims involving alleged product contamination, constitutional violations, professional liability, and other matters
  • Represented a trustee in a foreclosure action of TIF-financed property in Northern Ohio, resulting in a favorable settlement
  • Represented a Fortune 500 company in a large construction arbitration
  • Assisted with the successful defense of a public company against fiduciary duty class action claims, resulting in complete dismissal
  • Represented a local cooperative in a breach of contract action against sophisticated customers, resulting in a favorable settlement
  • Represented a national outdoor product manufacturer in a trade secret theft and non-compete lawsuit involving a former employee, which resulted in permanent injunction and a favorable settlement
