David C. Landever

David Landever focuses on complex civil litigation with particular emphasis on product liability matters involving medicine, science, industrial hygiene, and engineering.

Over the course of his more than 20-year career, David has managed and participated in numerous federal and state trials taken to verdict on matters involving occupational/environmental exposures, medical devices, pharmaceutical drugs, insurance, and consumer fraud. He also has successfully argued before the Ohio Supreme Court, presented evidence in several MDL Daubert proceedings, and participated in the negotiation, execution, and drafting of multiple consolidated mass tort settlements.

Son of the late constitutional law professor Arthur Landever, David graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law where he received numerous awards for academic distinction as well as for his research and presentation on the use of epidemiological and other scientific evidence in the courtroom.

David grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where he now lives with his wife and their three children.

  • Representation of several welding manufacturers involving the defense of claims that manganese in welding fumes caused a Parkinsonian disorder. Representation included serving as trial counsel in seven bellwether jury trials brought in both federal multidistrict litigation and Louisiana state court resulting in defense jury verdicts in all but one case – and in that case, the $20.5 million plaintiff’s verdict was reversed and remanded by the Sixth Circuit
  • National asbestos trial counsel on behalf of a Fortune 200 Corporation
  • Lead trial counsel for a Fortune 500 Corporation in lawsuits alleging defects in thousands of roofing systems and warranties sold throughout the state of Louisiana and Ohio
