Tucker Ellis Launches Corporate Blog to Create a Common Language of Business

January 2018

Tucker Ellis LLP has launched its new corporate blog, Lingua Negoti (ling-gwuh ni-gō-tē), or “language of business,” co-edited by partners Christopher Hewitt and Jayne Juvan. In addition to offering a unique view on recent developments in corporate, M&A, and securities law matters, the blog’s primary goal is to create a common language of business as it relates to these topics.

Joining Mr. Hewitt and Ms. Juvan as guest contributors will be other Tucker Ellis attorneys and colleagues from public and private companies, accounting firms, private equity firms, and venture capital firms.

“Too many attorneys tend to speak in ‘legalese.’ What clients really want is for their attorneys to speak the language of business,” Mr. Hewitt explained. “In addition to a common vernacular, speaking the language of business encompasses understanding how busy executives approach and solve business problems.”

“If we can create a common language and practice around routine issues, we can more properly focus time and resources on resolving issues that create value for an enterprise,” added Ms. Juvan. “The title Lingua Negoti conveys our desire to help transform the practice of corporate law from simply providing legal advice to helping our clients achieve their business objectives and drive high performance.”

Lingua Negoti went live on January 22. To read the blog, please visit tuckerellis.com/lingua-negoti-blog.
