Tucker Ellis Coaches CECHS Mock Trial Team to Victory

May 14, 2018

On May 11, the Tucker Ellis-coached Cleveland Early College HS (CECHS) Mock Trial Team took three of four possible individual awards in the 2018 Cleveland Mock Trial Championship. The team also won two “Best Attorney” awards and one “Best Witness” award. The championship was held at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center.

Karen Ross and Brandon Cox served as both co-coordinators and coaches of the CECHS Mock Trial Team. Joining Karen and Brandon as coaches were Chad Eggspuehler, Melissa Kelly, Emily Knight, Carter Strang, and Chaz Weber. They were assisted by Brandon Brown, a CECHS Mock Trial Team graduate who is now an attorney with the Cleveland Law Department.

CECHS is the Tucker Ellis pipeline partner school in Cleveland. In addition to coaching its mock trial team, Tucker Ellis attorneys teach law (“The 3Rs”) at the school, and the firm provides paid summer legal internships for its graduates through the Stokes Scholars Program). Brandon Cox and Carter Strang also serve on the CECHS Advisory Committee.

Dairian Heard, another CECHS Mock Trial graduate, co-authored this year’s Cleveland Mock Trial materials. Dairian has been admitted to law school for this fall. Both she and Brandon Brown are former Tucker Ellis Stokes Scholars.
