Tucker Ellis LLP is proud to announce its unique mentoring and training program designed to quickly and effectively develop attorneys in the firm’s Business Department.

The Tucker Ellis Business Law Institute takes an in-depth look at the issues business attorneys face in their daily practice and provides training, topic-specific mentoring, and best practices education to attorneys of all levels.

“As our department grows, it’s important for all of our lawyers to interact and grow with one another,” said Business Department Chair Brian O’Neill. “The Business Law Institute educates and prepares our attorneys to provide the very best counsel to our clients.”

Like the firm’s new corporate blog, Lingua Negoti, co-edited by partners Christopher Hewitt and Jayne Juvan, the goal of the Business Law Institute is to create a common “language of business” to help the firm’s business attorneys develop a shared understanding of how businesspeople want their counsel to approach and solve their business problems.

“Too many attorneys speak in ‘legalese’ when what clients really want is for their attorneys to speak the language of business,” said Mr. Hewitt. “Our goal with the Business Law Institute is to reach a common understanding of how busy executives approach and solve business problems so that we can provide our clients with the most sophisticated, efficient, and cost-effective counsel.”

The Business Law Institute consists of three sessions each month:

  1. Hot topic training – including presentations by both internal and external speakers on important current developments;
  2. Educational workshops focusing on practice-specific topics; and
  3. Interactive meetings where attorneys of all levels share thoughts and ideas on important and timely legal issues.

“The Business Law Institute gives our business attorneys the tools they need to create a cohesive, best practices-based approach to client matters,” said Ms. Juvan. “We’re proud to watch our attorneys grow and succeed through these sessions.”
