Tribune Chronicle Quotes Joe Koncelik on Western Reserve Port Authority’s Former RG Steel Redevelopment Project

May 2021

On May 20, the Tribune Chronicle quoted Joe Koncelik in an article discussing the Western Reserve Port Authority’s proposed redevelopment plan for the former RG Steel property located in Warren, Ohio. According to the article, the port authority board “agreed to accept the 825-acre former industrial site primed for redevelopment, but not without assurance there is a risk mitigation plan in place that includes insulating the port from environmental liabilities.”

Joe was retained to advise the Port on strategies to mitigate the environmental liability associated with the 825-acre industrial property.

“I am very comfortable making a recommendation to the port. Based on my 25-plus years of environmental law experience there are good strategies in place to protect the port from the historical environmental liability associated with that acreage,” Joe said.
