Eleven Tucker Ellis Attorneys Promoted to Counsel

January 2016

Tucker Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that it has promoted 11 of its attorneys to Counsel effective January 1, 2016.

Michael Adelsheim practices in the area of intellectual property law. He prepares and prosecutes utility and design patent applications and provides strategic intellectual property planning and patent portfolio management for both established and start-up clients. He works with clients in technologies including consumer electronics, software, sensor and signal processing, cloud computing, data storage, audio/video, and mechanical devices. Mr. Adelsheim received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He received his undergraduate degree cum laude from California Polytechnic State University.

Justin Garratt focuses his practice on products liability, mass tort, and business litigation. He serves on national and local trial counsel teams for clients in industries including aviation, vertical transportation, HVAC, and raw minerals. Mr. Garratt handles all aspects of the litigation process, from pre-suit evaluation through discovery, law and motion, trial, and appeal, in state and federal court proceedings. He received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Monee Takla Hanna practices primarily in the area of pharmaceutical and medical products liability. She serves on litigation teams in state and federal courts, defending clients in matters involving transdermal drug-delivery systems, pelvic mesh, and cardiac medication actions. She also defends clients in business litigation matters, including class actions, unfair competition claims, and antitrust actions. Ms. Hanna received her law degree from Harvard Law School. She received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was Phi Beta Kappa.

Courtenay Youngblood Jalics practices in the areas of products liability, medical and pharmaceutical liability, and construction litigation, defending clients in federal multi-district litigations and state proceedings across the country. She advises clients on general medical, pharmaceutical, product liability, and premises liability issues, and advises medical and pharmaceutical clients in FDA regulatory matters, product recalls, and related document holds. Ms. Jalics received her law degree from DePaul University College of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.

Aggie Lee represents pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in products liability litigation. She has worked on numerous cases in both state and federal courts as a member of teams defending a variety of products, including transdermal drug delivery systems, COX-2 inhibitor medications, and insulin pumps. Ms. Lee received her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Chinese and American Studies from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center.

Paul Malie focuses his practice on business transactions, commercial banking, corporate finance, and securities. He represents numerous companies, financial institutions, private equity firms, and venture capital funds in transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, lending and equity, debt, and bond financings. He provides corporate counseling to clients in diverse industries on a variety of corporate, lending, commercial, and administrative matters and provides individualized counseling to start-up companies. Mr. Malie received his law degree cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University.

Chelsea Mikula practices primarily in the areas of business litigation and products liability litigation. She has developed an expertise in several areas of the law, including personal injury, real estate, construction, and insurance. Ms. Mikula is part of the Tucker Ellis team that serves as national counsel for two large companies and defends their motor vehicle and premises liability cases. She also practices in the area of consumer product safety, advising clients on compliance issues, reporting obligations, and recall effectiveness. Ms. Mikula received her law degree cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Denison University.

Michael Robbins represents intellectual property clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in patent, trademark, and copyright matters. He counsels clients in technical fields including wireless communication, semiconductor fabrication, medical devices, nanotechnology, computer and network architecture, and all matters relating to the mechanical arts. He assists clients in developing intellectual property portfolios, coordinating the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and provides validity and non-infringement opinions, negotiates licensing agreements, and advises on litigation matters. Mr. Robbins received both his law degree cum laude and his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin.

Jeff Sindelar represents clients in matters involving antitrust, contract disputes, consumer class actions, copyrights, drug and medical device products liability, medical malpractice, and toxic torts. He spends a significant amount of his time defending FDA-regulated drugs and medical devices in federal multi-district and state litigation. Mr. Sindelar received his law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School. He received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University where he was Phi Beta Kappa.

Chad Tian practices in the area of intellectual property law. He represents clients of all sizes before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in patent preparation and prosecution in technology fields including database products, computer hardware, software, programming languages, telecommunications systems, Internet technologies, and business methods. He counsels clients in global patent filing strategies and manages prosecution of patent applications around the world. He also has experience in cross-border IP litigation and arbitration and FCPA investigation. Mr. Tian received his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He received a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts from The Ohio State University, and holds undergraduate degrees from Franklin University and the China School of Journalism.

Amanda Villalobos focuses her practice on litigation defense and product liability. Her work is concentrated in the area of civil litigation, defending high-profile corporate clients in general liability matters, including pharmaceutical and medical device matters, consumer class actions, and cases involving personal injury and wrongful death. Ms. Villalobos received her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
