Mr. Trutanich’s career encompasses more than 35 years of service dedicated to both the public and private sectors. He joins Tucker Ellis from the City of Los Angeles—the second largest city in the nation—where he served as the elected City Attorney from 2009 to 2013. Earlier in his career, Mr. Trutanich was a Los Angeles county deputy district attorney. In the private sector, Mr. Trutanich managed two successful law firms where he litigated hundreds of cases. “We’re thrilled to have Nuch join Tucker Ellis,” said Bart Kessel, Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s California offices. “He has amassed an extraordinary wealth of litigation, business, and legal experience between both his years in private practice and his commitment to the city of Los Angeles. His unique perspective will be a valuable asset to our clients.”

Throughout his career, Mr. Trutanich has tried more than 100 jury trials in addition to hundreds of court trials at the federal and state levels. During his tenure as Los Angeles City Attorney, the city experienced an unprecedented 92% success rate in civil matters brought to trial, saving taxpayers over $400 million.

A number of organizations have honored Mr. Trutanich for the legal successes he has achieved and his commitment to the community. He has held an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell in both legal skills and ethics for more than 10 consecutive years by his peers, as well as the Bench, and has been continuously recognized on the list of Southern California Super Lawyers®.
