Crain's New York Business quoted Pat Oliver in its article, "Redefining the Role of the General Counsel: The Corporate Counsel as Chief Strategy Officer." Pat spoke about her previous position as general counsel at BB&T, where she overhauled the legal department in 2004 to allow her team to provide more strategic advice.

"I started from scratch, noticing you had to be a policy advisor and a strategic advisor," Pat said. "They embraced it."

Today, Pat's approach is rapidly picking up steam due to a tighter regulatory environment pushing corporate counsels into more strategic roles. Read the article here.
