Tucker Ellis Partners with In-House Attorney and Colorado Supreme Court to Launch Attorney Mentor Pilot Program

November 2015

While serving on the board of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, Tanner Walls and State Farm in-house attorney Rob Jones explored the possibility of partnering to try insurance defense cases as a way for younger defense lawyers to accumulate trial experience. They presented their idea to the Colorado Supreme Court, and the Court sanctioned the pilot program under its Attorney Mentor Program. Subsequently, Tanner and Rob co-defended a motor vehicle accident case in Canon City, Colorado, in a five-day jury trial resulting in a complete defense verdict. In addition to gaining trial experience, Tanner will receive CLE credit through the pilot program for trying the case. Both Tanner and Rob are exploring further opportunities to provide similar opportunities for other Tucker Ellis associates to partner with in-house captive insurance firms in Ohio and California.
