Victoria Vance Speaks at DRI’s Nursing Home/ALF Litigation Seminar

September 21, 2012

Tucker Ellis attorney and healthcare expert Victoria Vance spoke at DRI’s Nursing Home/ALF Litigation Seminar, the preeminent program for attorneys in private practice, in-house consel, claims specialists, and other professionals involved in the defense of claims against long-term and end-of-life care providers across the country.

Vicky discussed “Policies & Procedures v. Nursing Standards of Care: How to Avoid Setting Up Failure.” Plaintiffs routinely argue that a provider’s internal policies and procedures represent the “standard of care” and that any deviation constitutes negligence. Vicky’s presentation examined the legal basis for such views, provided defendants with authority to argue against the discoverability, and offered strategies to providers for writing smart and effective policies which, if discovered, will not harm the institution. The seminar was presented September 20-21 in Las Vegas.
