On April 26, Gilmour Academy's Moot Court students brought home second place at the annual Ohio High School Moot Court Competition, marking the fifth time that Gilmour has competed in the championship round since the competition began six years ago - an accomplishment that no other Ohio high school has achieved. Coached by Brandon Cox, the team also earned a first-place win for Best Respondent Brief and received Best Oralists awards. Ohio Supreme Court Justice Pat Fischer and Justice Melody Stewart - the first Black woman elected to the Court - judged the final round.

Moot Court focuses on the appellate court process and is designed to provide students the opportunity to present a simulated oral argument and respond to questions posed by a panel of volunteer judges. Arguments are evaluated on the application of the law to the facts of the case. The Ohio Center for Law-Related Education hosted the sixth annual competition at the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center in Columbus, Ohio.
