Sherry Knutson, Mollie Benedict, and Sandy Wunderlich spoke at IADC’s 2018 Midyear Meeting, held February 10-15 in La Quinta, California.

In the panel presentation “Civil Litigation in the ‘Post Truth’ Era: Defending Against Motivated Reasoning,” Sherry discussed the social psychology behind motivated reasoning, using examples from mock trials to demonstrate some of the changes in juror behavior, and provide practical tips to try to counter this growing phenomenon.

In “High Stakes Litigation: Same Actors, Different Script,” Mollie joined other distinguished panelists to discuss emerging trends and effective strategies for defending litigation and address issues related to warm to hot venues, alternative billing, implementing the national counsel model, and creative staffing.

Finally, Sandy moderated “The Entertainment Industry: What Keeps In-House Counsel Up at Night?” The panel, composed of in-house counsel at Walt Disney Company and 21st Century Fox, addressed the unique issues faced by legal counsel in the entertainment industry and discuss challenges, trends, and the solutions they have implemented.
