Pipeline Initiatives

Tucker Ellis & West LLP is actively involved in a number of pipeline initiatives designed to encourage disadvantaged and minority students to learn about and pursue careers in the legal profession.

The firm is particularly proud of its involvement with the 3Rs program and its partnership  with John Hay High School’s Early College Program (JHEC).

3Rs is the nationally-recognized, award-winning Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) program in which attorneys teach constitutional law related topics (Rights, Responsibilities and Realities) and career counseling monthly during the school year to some 4,000 10th grade U.S. history students in the Cleveland and E. Cleveland public schools. TEW partner Carter Strang is Immediate Past Chair of the 3Rs Committee

The TEW partnership with JCHC is in its second year. TEW provides JHEC’s 3Rs instructors, and TEW attorneys coached JHEC’s 2008 team to the Cleveland Mock Trial Championship, besting some 40 other teams in JEHC’s first year of participation. This year, TEW is coaching two JCHC teams that will participate in the competition. TEW also hires two JHEC students each summer as paid interns in its Cleveland office.

TEW will be expanding its pipeline initiative work to all offices in the coming school year.  Learn more about our pipeline initiatives...
