Energy & Environmental Law
Our Environmental team provides a full range of environmental services to businesses and represents clients before federal, state, and local governments and agencies regulating the handling, transportation and disposal of hazardous materials, and discharges of wastes to the environment air, land and water. These services include environmental investigations, compliance, audits, transactions, and counseling. We also have significant expertise in obtaining public financing and other incentives for energy companies, including those in the renewable and alternative energy field. Our trial lawyers handle all manner of environmental litigation, including Superfund actions, lawsuits involving contaminated properties, natural resources law, toxic torts, the defense of citizens suits (including actions under California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65)), and criminal defense. Our environmental trial lawyers have extensive courtroom experience and have tried environmental cases in Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Michigan, Minnesota, Florida, Texas, and administrative enforcement actions in California.
Tucker Ellis also "practices what it preaches" by being a "Green" leader in the legal community. We were the first law firm designated "Green Certified" by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association for its responsible law office practices, and it received the CMBA's first "Green Innovation Award" for its programs to educate its personnel about environmentally responsible practices. TEW can assist your company or organization in considering internal environmentally responsible practices. For more information about TEW's "Green Initiative," click here.
