Governor Strickland's Office Announces Regional Information Sessions on American Recovery and Reinvestment Act "Stimulus Plan"
April 2009
By: Nicholas C. York
We continue to be inundated with calls regarding the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act aka “federal stimulus package.” Much is happening at both the Federal and State level. Governor Strickland has recently announced 149 federally funded “transportation and infrastructure” projects, $42 Million in Office of Criminal Justice Services Grants, $138 Million in Environmental Clean Up projects and many other business and social services funding programs in Ohio.
The Governor’s office recently announced a series of regional Information Sessions to discuss updates on the Federal stimulus plan. Each session will include a 30 minute overview and two 60 minute breakout sessions. One session will provide information on economic stimulus and opportunity for businesses. The other will provide information regarding governmental and social service projects. Click here for a document listing the locations, dates and times for the 8 regional sessions.
Many of the State and Federal programs have already begun to issue RFP Applications. The competition for funding at both the State and Federal level is fierce. In Ohio alone, there have been over 20,000 projects submitted with total funding requests in excess of $50 Billion.
We have included links to the White House and State of Ohio’s Recovery websites, both of which provide timely updates on all State and Federal programs, guidelines, applications and policies.
