Cleveland, Ohio – (June 4, 2010) - Carter E. Strang, a partner with Tucker Ellis & West LLP, has received the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s Justice For All (JFA) Volunteer of the Year Award for Public Service. The award was presented at the CMBA’s annual meeting by CMBA’s then President Mary K. Whitmer. Ms. Whitmore stated “it is both a privilege and honor to recognize our colleagues who go above and beyond to serve our community, our profession and each other.”
Mr. Strang served as Chair of the CMBA’s 3Rs Committee for two of 3Rs’ first three school years and co-authored its program curriculum, incorporating a number of changes to better engage the students and prepare them for the Ohio Graduation Test. 3Rs is the CMBA’s nationally acclaimed program that places some 500 attorneys in Cleveland and E. Cleveland public schools where they teach a law related curriculum and provide career counseling through monthly visits. OGT test scores (on the Social Studies component) have risen every year since the introduction of 3Rs into the schools.
Additionally, Mr. Strang initiated and serves as coordinator of TEW’s award winning Pipeline Diversity Program, served as Captain for the TEW John Hay Early College 3Rs team, helped coach the John Hay High School Mock Trial team to victory twice in the last three years, and spearheaded the Green Initiative Program at the CMBA.
Mr. Strang is Vice-President of the CMBA, President of the Federal Bar Association Northern District of Ohio Chapter, and recipient of the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys’ Distinguished Contributions to the Community Award.
Mr. Strang’s practice at TEW focuses on environmental, mass tort, and product liability litigation.
