
Scott Kelly is Counsel in the Cleveland office of Tucker Ellis & West. His practice focuses on the representation of businesses in insolvency related matters, including bankruptcy proceedings. He also represents businesses in litigation covering a broad range of issues including contract disputes, tort claims (including product liability claims), intellectual property matters, antitrust and competition matters, and creditor’s rights in and out of bankruptcy cases. Scott has represented clients in cases pending all over the country, including state and federal courts in Ohio, Delaware, California, Maryland, New York, Virginia, Utah and the District of Columbia. He has authored several publications on bankruptcy topics, including co-authoring “The Small but Essential Handbook of Basic Bankruptcy Law,” a guide to the difficult and complex process of bankruptcy, published by Casemaker. Scott has served as a Continuing Legal Education instructor on bankruptcy topics including general creditors rights, defense of avoidance actions (preferences and fraudulent transfers), and the treatment of commercial leases in bankruptcy.
Scott grew up in Fairborn, Ohio. He attended Bowling Green State University, where he ran track and cross country, and obtained a bachelors degree in business administration. He attended The Ohio State University College of Law. Scott began his legal career in Cleveland, and has lived and practiced law in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. He returned to Cleveland in the summer of 2003, where he currently resides with his wife who is the director of sports medicine at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball and soccer, studying music, and when he really gets lucky, skiing.
