Peggy S. Doyle

Peggy S. Doyle is Counsel in the San Francisco office of Tucker Ellis & West LLP. She is a member of the Trial Department, whose practice focuses on a broad range of defense litigation with extensive experience in products liability and catastrophic injuries, including electrical, construction, recreational, transportation, and fire protection equipment and products in stand-alone and mass tort litigation. Peggy also has extensive experience in premises liability, both commercial and residential, and in general negligence, particularly construction site accidents. Peggy has also defended local municipalities and school districts in state and federal actions.

Peggy handles all aspects of litigation from 24-hour response teams and preliminary evaluations through trial preparation and trials (first and second chair) in state and federal courts. She has successfully resolved numerous cases with exposure ranging from nominal to brain and burn injuries. Representative work includes preparing and co-trying to defense verdict a bicycle helmet products liability action with a significant brain injury. Peggy obtained summary judgment in two other brain injury actions, one involving a work place accident and one involving commercial property. She negotiated a nominal settlement of another work place accident involving clear liability and a minor brain injury following a detailed investigation of the plaintiff’s pre-accident medical and social history, and she negotiated a nominal settlement in an alleged electrical fire case with burn injuries after largely disqualifying plaintiff’s expert. She has obtained summary judgment in numerous federal civil rights actions defending Bay Area police departments, Public Works departments, and other public agencies, including a 14th Amendment equal protection action in which her client’s admissions policy was in dispute.

Peggy earned her law degree from the University of Santa Clara School of Law in 1994, where she received honors in research and writing. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in 1988, with honors, from San Jose State University. Peggy is a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
