
Kevin T. Burns is an Associate in the Cleveland office of Tucker Ellis & West LLP. As a member of the firm's Employee Benefits Group, Kevin focuses his practice on handling a variety of benefits and executive compensation matters, including qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans and nonqualified deferred compensation plans. Kevin advises clients about the design, drafting, and administration of qualified retirement plans, including 401(k) plans, defined benefit plans, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), and governmental plans; and on health and welfare issues, such as HIPAA compliance, cafeteria plans and health savings accounts. Kevin has assisted clients on issues relating to determination letter and EPCRS filings, operational and compliance matters, plan terminations and mergers, and tax code analysis. He also has experience with determination letter and EPCRS filings for governmental plans. benefits and executive compensation matters.
Mr. Burns received his LL.M in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2007 and graduated magna cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he received his J.D. While attending Cleveland-Marshall, he worked as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Judge Karen Nelson Moore of the Federal 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, received the Outstanding Student in Local Government Law Award, and was involved in the Student Hurricane Network, which provides relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Kevin attended The Ohio State University for his undergraduate degree, where he earned a B.S. in both Marketing and Transportation & Logistics.
Kevin is a native Clevelander who, in his free time, enjoys volunteering for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America and is a child sponsor through the Christian Children's Fund.
