John X. Garred

John Garred is a Partner in the Cleveland office of Tucker Ellis & West LLP, focusing in the area of intellectual property law. His practice is concentrated on the assessment of the business value of technological innovation, and implementation of protection schemes to secure that value. John's experience includes assessment of research and development efforts for isolating and protecting patentable subject matter, trade secrets, copyrights and trademarks, and extends to leveraging intellectual property rights in corporate mergers and acquisitions, licensing and secured financing. He also assists in enforcement of intellectual property rights, as well as defending assertions of infringement.

Mr. Garred services a geographically diverse base of clients involved in high technology ventures and is particularly active with companies in the areas of digital devices, electronics, telecommunications and document processing technology. However, his counseling extends to companies with technology assets in varied areas, including biotechnology, medical devices and chemical compositions. John divides his time between servicing clients from the Cleveland and California offices of Tucker Ellis & West LLP.
