
Jean A. ("J") Hobart is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Tucker Ellis & West LLP. She is a trial lawyer who works mainly in the areas of retail operations, consumer class actions, commercial litigation and products liability. Her experience includes intellectual property suits (copyright, trademark, and trade secrets), a lengthy administrative trial involving audit failures of a Big 4 accounting firm arising out of the Orange County bankruptcy, and national counsel for product manufacturers. She also was on the appellate defense team for Daubert v. Merrill Dow Pharmaceuticals, the landmark case on admissibility of expert testimony.
J. also has extensive experience in appeals. She served as a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable Joe. L. Draughn, Fourteenth Court of Appeals, State of Texas, and has handled numerous appeals in the state and federal courts of appeal with several published decisions. She served as an adjunct professor of Legal Writing at the University of Houston Law Center. J. grew up in Texas and currently lives in Los Angeles with her wife. She supports the Arts and enjoys politics.
